Our client ‘Ubika’ approached us with an existing scheme done by the previous landowner in Black River, Mauritius which was struggling to sell. We noticed the initial design done by others was not well thought out and the layouts not optimized for Mauritius living. The spatial quality was poor, and the style dated. We redesigned the project to take advantage of the orientation, mountain views and road proximity. Inset courtyards and voids were purposefully placed within the back façade to scale down the building and edge onto the main road which backs onto a quaint coffee shop and restaurant which is well known in Black River for its fine food and atmosphere. The project consists of 4 3-bedroom apartments, 2 2-bedroom apartments and 2 large penthouses. It is a boutique apartment block open to the local and foreign market. The project will start on site towards the end of 2022 and we look forward to delivering it.
